This cutting edge development of just eleven state-of-the-art luxury apartments and two penthouses is situated in the desirable London suburb of Hampstead. The brief was to achieve an eco-friendly building that was built responsibly, helping the residents achieve wellness
Initially, the developers and specifiers looked towards natural Copper to give a distinctive and luxurious appearance to the new build. When the concept of using GreenCoat PLX Copper Metallic was presented to the designers the choice was clear. Copper Metallic PLX panels were easily formed on site from pre-cut blanks supplied by The Metal Roof Company. PLX is ideally suited for standing seam or, in this case shingle-type panels. Each panel was clipped onto the substrate as well as interlocked with the preceeding panel. Window fascias, trims and flashings were also applied in a similar fashion. The plans and construction detailing already produced for Copper cladding by the designers had to change very little in order to substitute Copper Metallic PLX
The cost saving to the developer was huge, yet the Copper aesthetic and desired high-quality appearance to the building facade was achieved,
Further eco-benefits were gained from using GreenCoat PLX since the GreenCoat finish is derived from rapeseed oil, a far more environmentally friendly finish than coatings made using fossil fuels. This long-life finish helps ensure a material warranty of up to 30 years plus the credit from using one of the lowest carbon footprint steels on the market.
